MONUMENTS AND INTERESTING PLACES

casino | cathedral | episcopal palace | la luz | SAN ANTONIO EL POBRE | others visits

print version

The Visitors Centre San Antonio El Pobre is located in an old chapel which received the same name. This chapel is related to a group of religious buildings, part of Santa Catalina del Monte. Its current appearance dates from the 18 th century and it shows the features of the popular baroque from Murcia . It is a building with a church, rooms for the accommodation of hermits and a cave dug out of the mountain. The church has got a central plan and it is covered with a groin vault.

Most part of the museography is audiovisual and is located in specific modules, such as the central column, exhibition panels, an interactive large window when we enter the cave, etc.

The austerity of the museum is also reflected in its graphic image, the logo is described with the lineal elements in the facade of the chapel, flanked by two graphic signs. The recreation of the cave is another basic element of the museography in the centre.
